This is provided mainly by the Health
Services Department’s staff. However, teachers can be
trained to render some form of Health Services after
proper training.
A. Availability of Screening Tests:
1. Vision Testing to detect error of
refraction (Snellen’s Test)
2. Hearing Test
3. Facilities for measuring height and
weight.
4. Facilities for taking of Blood Pressure
(Sphygmomanometers).
5. Instrument to detect body temperature
(Thermometer).
6. Color Perception Test for Maritime
Students to detect Color Blindness.
B. Regular Health Examination of students,
faculty and staff – give priority to new students, new
employees, periodic check-ups of old students.
C.
Consultation with doctor for specific ailments.
D.
Emergency Services – for emergency calls.
E.
Wound dressing, injections, BP monitoring,
application of medication.
F.
Common symptomatic medicines are available e.g.,
analgesic, antipyretic, medicines for cough and cold,
abdominal pain, diarrhea etc.
G.
Systematic keeping of Health Records of students,
faculty and staff. Filing cabinets are available for
this purpose.
H. Facilities where patients can be examined in
privacy are provided – as well as a place where those
not fully well can rest. The examining room is equipped
with examining beds and folding cots are available for
other students if the 2 beds are full.
