WNU's The Wesneco Torch Bags PIA Awards
Three awards were bagged by West Negros University’s
official students’ publication, The Wesneco Torch (TWT)
during the 35th Campus Journalism
Seminar-Workshop spearheaded by the Philippine
Information Agency (PIA) 6-Western Visayas held last
July 28-30, 2010 at Iloilo Grand Hotel in Iloilo City.
Among the citations given to TWT were; Best in Online
Journalism, Honorable in Page Design and the Promising
Photojournalist Award - Individual Category to Theonikko
del Mundo, TWT’s Associate Editor.
More than 300 delegates from the different schools in
the region attended the annual seminar-workshop with the
theme “Campus Paper Writers in the Realm of Community
Building.” .....

WNU-MIT
Inks MOA on Blister Wastes Utilization
A
Memorandum
of
Agreement
(MOA)
was
signed
between
West
Negros
University
(WNU)
and
Mapua
Institute
of
Technology
(MIT) last
July 23,
2010,
Friday
at the
University’s
President
Board
Room on
the
conduct
of
research
on the
best
usage of
blister
wastes.
The
collaboration
between
WNU’s
Civil
Engineering
Department
and
MIT’s
School
of Civil
Engineering
and
Environmental
and
Sanitary
Engineering
is for
the
purpose
of
conducting
a
research
on
Blister
Waste as
Construction
Material.
It
stated
that WNU
Civil Engineering department has faculty members trained
in research and have alternative materials for
construction as one of its research thrusts, it desires
to conduct a study on the use of pharmaceutical industry
wastes like blister capsule wastes as an alternative

German
Development Service Turns Over Sports Equipment to WNU
The
German
Development
Service
(DED)
through
its
junior
volunteer
endorsed
sets of
football
equipment
to West
Negros
University’s
football
team,
recently.
The
turn-over
activity
was held
last
July 7,
2010 at
the LNAM
Sports
Center
and
attended
by the
following;
Lennart
Elischer,
Mr.
Elmer J.
Bolivar-
Vice-President
for
Administration,
Norman
Fegidero-
football
coach,
Dr.
Nomer
Mangulabnan
–
director
of
Research
Development
&
Extension
Office (RDEO),
Victoria
Demonteverde,
Kim
Dumdum
and the
football
players,
among
others.
Elischer
expressed his hope that the equipment which include; 43
soccer balls, 57 pairs of jersey, spike shoes, socks and
gloves, among others will be used.....

Nursing, Educ Claim Mr. & Ms. Freshmen 2010 Title
The
College
of
Nursing
and
Allied
Health
Sciences
and the
College
of
Education
bested
six
other
departments
during
the
Search
for Mr.
and Ms.
Freshmen
2010
held
July 9,
2010 at
the LNAM
Sports
Center.
With the
theme;
“Projecting
the
Wesnecan
Image”,
Jeffrey
Gerardo
Sanchez
and
Ariane
Sevilla,
of the
College
of
Nursing
and
Allied
Health
Sciences
and the
College
of
Education,
respectively,
swept
the
audience
away in
their
separate
performances
leading
them to
bag the
Mr. and
Ms.
Freshmen
2010
title.
Both
were
also
awarded
Best in
Ruby
Collection,
and
Sanchez
bagged
the Best
in Cost
Play
Attire
and Best
in
Talent
for
male.
First
runner-up
place
was
awarded
to Errol
Vivero
(College
of
Education)
who at
the same
time won
the Best
in Cost
Play
Attire
for male
and Guia
Marie
Celis.....

West
Negros
University
(WNU)
recently
held its
General
Convocation
last
July 2,
2010
from 9AM
to 12
Noon at
LN
Agustin
Memorial
Sports
Center
with the
theme;
Projecting
the
Wesnecan
Image.
The
assembly
was
specifically
held to
welcome
the
newest
members
of the
Wesnecan
family;
the
freshmen
and
transferees
to
introduce
them to
the
administrators,
faculty
pool,
staff
and
other
students.
Dr. Cleo
Grace T.
Hinaut,
Vice-President
for
Academic
Affairs
expressed
that

the

you
