West Negros University President formally assumed the post as commanding officer of the 1803rd Ready Reserve Brigade in a turn-over ceremony held yesterday, January 14, 2010 at the GGA-Audio Visual Center.

Lt. Col. Suzette Lilian Agustin, MNSA GSC (RES) PA, who was the commanding officer of the 1st Negros Occidental Ready Reserve Battalion, relinquished the command to Major Emilio G. Jison followed by the turn-over of unit symbol.

The turnover rite was led by Col.Daniel Dela Cruz, group commander of the 6RCDG and was attended by PSSupt. Manuel Felix of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) and other officers and personnel of the Army Reserve Command (ARESCOM) in the province.

Lt. Col. Agustin is now the newly-installed acting commander of the 1803rd RRBde.

Earlier, Lt Col Alfredo Lazo, outgoing commander of the 605th (NOC) CDC, relinquished his command to Captain Manuel Agustin, the incoming acting commander of the Army's reserve command in Negros Occidental.

Col. Dela Cruz during his speech commended WNU for its sustainable Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) Program not only as part of the National Service Training Program in the development of the youth to become future leaders of the country.

Despite its drastic decline after it was made an optional course, Lt. Col. Agustin continues to encourage the students to take up the course whose vision is to make the citizens’ dream come.

She underscored that in her command she takes special focus on nurturing and carried out the mark of public service, courage and commitment to the flag and to its people.
